PEN STREP 20/20 – INJECTABLE SOLUTIONS

PEN-STREP 20/20 is indicated for Infections, caused by microorganisms susceptible to penicillin or dihydrostreptomycin, like respiratory-, uterine-, and alimentary tract infections, metritis, mastitis, osteomyelitis, peritonitis, septicemia, cystitis, joint-ill and secondary bacterial infections, in horses, cattle, pigs, foals, calves, sheep and goats.

Description

Composition:

Each ml contains:

Procaine penicillin G.: 200.000 I.U.

Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate: 200 mg.

Indications:

Infections, caused by microorganisms susceptible to penicillin or dihydrostreptomycin, like respiratory-, uterine-, and alimentary tract infections, metritis, mastitis, osteomyelitis, peritonitis, septicemia, cystitis, joint-ill and secondary bacterial infections, in horses, cattle, pigs, foals, calves, sheep and goats.

Contra‑Indications:

Hypersensitivity to penicillins, aminoglycosides and/or procaine, renal dysfunctions, disturbances of auditory or vestibular organ, use in small herbivores like rabbits, chinchillas and guinea pigs, prolonged use in pregnant animals because of the risk of ototoxicity to the foetus.

Concurrent administration with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.

Side-effects:

Prolonged administration of high doses may result in renal, vestibular and/or auditory dysfunctions and sometimes hypersensitivity reactions may occur.

Dosage and Administration:  Intramuscular administration.

Cattle: 1 ml per 20 kg bodyweight during 3 consecutive days.

Calves, goats, sheep and swine: 1 ml per 10 kg bodyweight during 3 consecutive days

Recommendations and Warnings:

Shake well before use. Pen-Strep 20/20 is incompatible with fast-acting bacteriostatic antimicrobial drugs (e.g. tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, lincomycin) and with anesthetics or other neuromuscular blocking agents (because of respiratory depression and apnea).

Withdrawal time: For kidney: 45 days. For meat: 21 days. For milk: 3 days.

Storage: Keep in a cool (between +4°C and +7°C )and dry place, away from sunlight and safe from children.
